In 1913, Converse produced a catalogue with the following words: “Our company was organized in 1908 fully believing that there was an earnest demand from the retail shoe dealer for a rubber shoe company that would be independent enough not to follow every other company in every thing they do.” Those words would prove prophetic. Always a brand for those independent enough not to follow, the young company would take up with a young sport: Basketball. Converse also made tires. But the basketball shoes gained more traction. Over the last century, Converse has paired with legends like Chuck Taylor and Jack Purcell. Classic Shoe
Just received my Converse Chuck Taylor's and have to say I am very impressed. Managed to find a telephone number to contact Amazon and changed my order at late notice (from Navy to classic black), they were very helpful and amended it successfully. These trainers look great with a pair of jeans and have a timeless design that will never go out of fashion. They are also very comfortable and have not been rubbing like most new pairs of shoes do. I think Converse go by American sizes so my advice would be to go for one size down from your usual. The one downside I have found is the quality isn't quite what I thought it would be with the upper consisting of a single ply canvas. This probably helps keep the weight down if you are playing basketball - what the shoes were originally designed by Chuck Taylor to be used for.
Very Nice Shoes
These shoes are really well designed, fit well around the foot, the shoe is made of canvas so there's no need to break them in as they're a simple fabric, one thing I would advise people to do is to buy the next size down like my mate told me to, I'm a size 11 & the size 11 shoe has about 3cm of gap between my toes & the tip of the inside, should've bought the size 10, it maybe because they're anerican shoes, whoever managed the shoe sizings for these were definitely not from this side of the pond, regardless though they're a really nice pair, my next ones will be optical white & this time I'll get them in size 10 :)
Converse All-Star Low
These were a Christmas present for someone else who has bought cheap sneakers which wore out quickly. He is delighted. I wear Converse most of the time and know how comfortable they are. It is great to be able to get unusual colours at a good price.
